Skywarn is a network of volunteer storm spotters who provide timely, accurate severe weather reports to the National Weather Service. For W0OEL, that means NWS storm spotter training and running a net that reports weather conditions and damage to the NWS office in La Crosse, WI, and to Fayette County Emergency Management.
You don't need to be mobile to spot. We'll take reports from wherever you are — home, work, a friend's house, a local establishment. If you do go mobile, staying safe and staying in communication with net control is on you.
Read our Skywarn standard operating procedure for the full rundown of how the club runs its program and net.
These are general public reporting tools. The club's Skywarn team has additional methods for reporting directly to NWS ARX — ask about them at a meeting.
